The Adonai hitmaker discussed his objectives in an interview with VoxAfrica, adding that his songs weren't intended to belittle Nigerian musicians.

He clarified that the songs did not denigrate the efforts of prominent African musicians, but rather served as a means of narrative and parallels to his own career trajectory.

He went on to say that rappers, not singers, would have been his target if he had wanted to take shots.

"Wizkid, Burna Boy, and Davido would never believe that I want to make fun of them because I only get to make fun of rappers." Rappers, that's not what they are.

"I'm just discussing with rappers how long I've been around and who else is the most deserving of respect." Wizkid, Burna Boy, Black Sheriff, Asake, and Davido are all well-known.

It's also true that I worked on the field before they all did. It merely indicates how long I've been there. It's not meant to be offensive to anyone. He remarked, "These are incredible, amazing artists."

On Friday, May 10, Sarkodie released Brag, a song that went viral on social media. One of the tracks off his forthcoming The Championship EP, which is set for release on Friday, May 24, is called "Brag."

Sarkodie claimed that people misunderstood what he was trying to say, but he nonetheless appreciated the enthusiasm and trend since it was "great PR."

"I just adore it, but I have no idea what's going on." Even though you cannot pay for this, it is excellent PR. I'm merely discussing my length of stay with rappers. It doesn't make fun of anyone; it's just references to how long I've been there.

"These artists are wonderful and amazing...Since I enjoy the vibe that is present—it's not true, but I'm loving it—I honestly wouldn't want to even address this, Sarkodie remarked.
