The Executive Director for Ghana National Council of Private Schools (GHACOPS), Mr Enoch Akwasi Gyetuah has disclosed that no student would be repeated in the recent reopening of school, rather, they would be promoted one class up.

It could be recalled that schools were closed in March last year due to the emergence of coronavirus which has wreaked havoc to many nations.

The president in his 21st address to the nation on measures taken against the novel global pandemic gave the green light for schools to reopen, starting 15th of January this year, however, Mr Akwasi Gyetuah says “last year's academic calendar will be aborted but students will move up the academic level."

"Now that we're going back to school, we're not going to continue the previous term due to the introduction of new academic phase focusing on behavioural enhancement, we won't be focusing on pen and paper exams, but we'll focus on their behaviour, therefore the previous term will be aborted and all students promoted one level up."

"We'll introduce something called remediation which will help the students grasp what they missed in the previous class." Mr Gyetuah said on shaft FM morning show, monitored by Soireenews.com.

Mr Gyetuah also disclosed that the new learning phase will require that no Student should be repeated in school, placing more emphasis on critical thinking which he believes is the way to go.
