The President, His excellency Nana Akuffo-Addo suspended all public gatherings including religious activities but failed to ban the activities of night clubs.

The information ministered has now offered the explanation for the omission. 

Ghanaians were astonished as the President left out the activities of the night in the ban, suspending almost all other large gatherings amongst which are Church Services, political rallies, festivals, Weddings, schools, sporting events, funerals and other social activities for at least four weeks. 

The Deputy Minister of Information, Pius Emma Hadzide in an interview with Omanhene Yaw Adu Boakye on Kessben FM has now disclosed why the president didn’t ban the operations of night clubs.

At the interview he stated that the night clubs were not suspended because people visit there of their own free will unlike other social gatherings.  He said: “Night clubs and other places, people go there with their own choice unlike schools which is must for students,” 

He additionally advised that people should stop going to such places in their own best interests, in order to keep the well being and safety of the people. This will help keep the country safe amidst the rapid spread of the ill fated deadly Coronavirus. 

He also advised that Ghanaians to pay heed to the measures laid out by the President, as it is also in their best interest to reign in their impulses for social contact in order to nip the spread of the virus  in the bud.
