Do you recall the well-known Nigerian film Issakaba? What do you remember about it? Fans of seasoned Nollywood actor Sam Dede will get to witness him perform once again when he returns to reprise his role as "Ebube" in the follow-up to the 2001 Nollywood masterpiece "Issakaba."

Nigerian hit movie Issakaba is getting a series comeback

The reputable actor teased in a recent Instagram post, as reported by Guardian Nigeria  “Issakaba!!! The Myth returns. A river does not flow through a forest without bringing down trees. Men with evil minds lurk in the dark. But….. Justice is mine.”

Lancelot Imasuen, the original director, is returning to supervise the new endeavor.

Imasuen advertised the film's second round of tryouts earlier this month in Asaba, Delta, and showed signs of rapid production progress.

Inspired by the true narrative of the Bakassi Boys, a grassroots vigilante group established in 1998 to combat crime in South-East Nigeria, "Issakaba" is an anagram of the word "Bakass."

In the movie, Ebube sets out with the Issakaba boys to combat armed robberies in their community, employing inventive strategies and ethereal charms to bring about speedy justice.

The cast of the five-part film from 2001 included Susan Obi, Mike Ogundu, Amaechi Muonagor, Pete Eneh, Chiwetalu Agu, and John Okafor. The cast of the sequel includes some well-known actors including Diewait Ikpechukwu, Zulu Adigwe, and Andy Chukwu.

The sequel's release date is still pending while production is ongoing. Watch this space for updates on the much awaited Nollywood revival of the "Issakaba" saga.
