Obaapa Christy, a gospel performer, is pleading with Ghanaians to pray for gospel musicians rather than criticizing them excessively when they make mistakes.

Obaapa Christy: "Gospel artists are not angels; stop criticizing them"

This is due to the fact that gospel musicians are not created angels by using music to preach the word of God. Since they are also people, they are prone to making mistakes just like everyone else.

The Metease hitmaker stated that criticizing gospel musicians for their mistakes is not the appropriate course of action during a sit-down interview with Graphic Showbiz on Monday, January 29 at her restaurant Obaapa Essen, which is situated at Dansoman, Accra.

Saying various things to lower their spirits is unnecessary. When problems with gospel musicians arise, I occasionally hear negative remarks about them, which may be really depressing.

“Inasmuch as we are gospel musicians, we are mere mortals and we are bound to make mistakes too. Some media persons and Ghanaians dwell on the negatives instead of focusing on the positives. What is the point in rejoicing over someone’s downfall?” she queried.

Using the occasion, Obaapa Christy also gave her colleagues advice on how to value oneself in order to get paid similarly to their secular counterparts who allegedly negotiate higher rates with event organizers.

"I often tell people that if you value yourself, no event planner will give you whatever they want—instead, they will pay you what you are entitled to when they contract you to perform. I've been doing this for more than 20 years, accepting any payment at all. She remarked, "I am paid what I am entitled to because I am deserving of it.

Today, Thursday, February 1, marks the debut of a new track by Obaapa Christy called Ebesesa. The Akan word for "it will change" inspires listeners to persevere through any challenges they may be facing.

"People are going through a lot and we are living in difficult times. Many things have changed after COVID-19, and most people are not doing well at all. The music video, which was captured in Ghana by Skyweb, complements the song and brings hope to those who have none. She continued, "The lyrics are meant to inspire you by showing you that God is with you and will improve your circumstances.
