Nigeria has issued a warning about possible Eid al-Fitr bombings.

Nigerian police have issued a warning about the possibility of bomb attacks during Eid al-Fitr celebrations, which celebrate the conclusion of the Islamic holy month of Ramadan.

Police spokesman Peter Afunanya said in a statement that the force had discovered a conspiracy by suspected gangs to attack key infrastructure, places of worship, and recreation centers.

The warning comes after many people were murdered in previous bombings at pubs in the north-eastern states of Taraba and Yobe.

The attacks were reportedly done by the Islamic State West Africa Province (Iswap), a Boko Haram splinter group.
