NIA concedes printing is in short supply-A.B.A. Fuseini

Subscribers would not bear the responsibility of the inefficiencies of an ill-prepared system.

Barring any further changes, the ongoing SIM card registration would be brought to an end.

Subscribers of the various telecoms are expected to have been registered by the July 31 deadline, as per the directive given by the National Identification Authority and the Ministry of Communication and Digitalization.

But, speaking to the Parliamentary press corpse in Parliament the Member of Parliament for Sagnarigu, Alhaji Alhassan Bashir A. Fuseini indicated that the NIA has conceded upon appearing before the House revealed that, not only do they not have regional offices across the country but also do not have printing papers, logistics, and staff to process cards for registrants adding, "Why should that the burden of the registrants", he asked.

"Why should a lapse created by the NIA be blamed on subscribers and eventually cost them their SIM card and businesses",  the Sagnarigu lawmaker quizzed.

He maintained that subscribers would not bear the responsibility of the inefficiencies of an ill-prepared system.

The Sagnarigu lawmaker could not understand why the NIA which came to seek the assistance of Parliament would turn its back to behave in such a manner.

He said if you have obvious lapses, why would they want to use L.I. 2111 which does not mandate the authority to act in such a way and make the card a compulsory document?

He called on the NIA to do the needful to ensure everyone was fully captured.
