The Bono East National Health Insurance Regional Office has held its mid-year performance review to assess progress.

The Bono East Regional Director of the National Health Insurance Authority, Mr George Oppong Danquah, disclosed that from January 1 to June 30th,  his outfit has a total of 699, 703 active members which constitute 83% of their target for the year in terms of active membership.

He also revealed that they have been able to register 60.3% of the entire population in the region as new beneficiaries to the scheme within the first six months of 2021, which he believes signifies the good work done by his outfit.

Mr Danquah further revealed that the Bono East Regional National Health Insurance Authority has registered 50% of the total number of indigents that they are supposed to register within the year as well as recording 153,000 members of the scheme renewing their NHIS cards through the online or Mobile renewal.

Mr George Oppong Danquah applauded the various Traditional Councils within the region, the media and the populace at large for helping the regional NHIA in their quest of meeting their target for the year.

He appealed to all NHIS service providers to desist from charging beneficiaries extra cost since such activity is against the law and it's also punishable by the law.

"Our clients must always demand receipts whenever they feel that they are being charged unnecessary by any hospital and send such receipt to any of our offices". He said.

This according to him will enable them to carry out a thorough investigation in the matter.
