Former President of the Tertiary Education Institution Network (TEIN) of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the University College of Management Studies, Mr. Wisdom Wilson Adzedakor, has dug into the construction of the Ghana National Cathedral project by the government of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

According to the former local president of the National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS) of the University College of Management Studies, the total amounts of monies allocated for the construction of the Ghana National Cathedral by the current government are higher than the amount used to construct the Ghana Gas by President John Evans Atta Mills government of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

He asserted that the Ghana National Cathedral construction project money is also higher than the amount used to build the University of Ghana Medical Center.

Mr. Adzedakor who is vying to contest the position of the Deputy Communications Officer on the ticket of the NDC in the North Tongu Constituency of the Volta Region noted that the Ghana National Cathedral sits on some  17 acres of Prime State Land.

He maintained that It starts from the Ridge roundabout area and extends to the western side of the State House and Parliament House.
According to him, the estimated Forced Value (FV) of the Prime Land is estimated at $250 million whilst Market Value (MV) is estimated at $320 million.
He added that the estimated cost of destroying the bungalows and cleaning up is US$10 million (don't worry, even the cost of drawing the Cathedral and talking codenamed consultancy alone was over GH¢ 32 million or $6 million as at the time of payment).
He argued that the government has acquired new prime land to rebuild all the judge's homes destroyed (not houses), with all the social amenities, also estimated to be US $300 million.
He mentioned that the construction of the Cathedral itself is currently valued at US$350 million, as the total cost keeps changing.
He asserted that it started from the US $100 million to $200m to $250m and now $350 million, saying that l am expecting the final figure to reach the US $500 million and more.
Additionally, NDC's young politician noted that "I haven't quantified and calculated these two costs such as inconvenience cost and opportunity cost.
Summary of figures, Mr. Adzedakor pointed out that the cost of land is pegged at $320 million, the cost of land preparation is the US $10 million, the cost of reconstruction of judges' homes is the US $300 million, cost of construction of the Cathedral is the US $350m.
He pointed out that the total cost of the project is US $980 million or GH¢ 1,180 billion.
"Fellow Ghanaians, these figures are higher than the amount used to construct the Ghana Gas by President John Evans Attah Mills. It's also higher than the amount used to build the University of Ghana Medical Center etc," he reiterated.
