NDC Exposes NPP For Busing Persons From Ketu North And Lower Manya Krobo To Register In Asuogyaman Amidst Tension
Addressing a crowded press conference held at Atimpoku on Tuesday 3, 2023, the NDC Secretary of Asuogyaman Constituency, Mr Clement Amegatse exposed what the NDC describes as the criminal acts of the NPP and predicable shortfalls of Electoral Commission of Ghana during the just ended limited voters registration exercise.

THERE IS tension brewing in Asuogyaman Constituency of the Eastern Region following accusing fingers pointed at the leadership of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the area by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for busing persons from Ketu North and Lower Manya Krobo Constituencies to register in the just ended limited voter registration exercise in Asuogyaman.
Addressing a crowded press conference held at Atimpoku on Tuesday 3, 2023, the NDC Secretary of Asuogyaman Constituency, Mr Clement Amegatse exposed what the NDC describes as the criminal acts of the NPP and predicable shortfalls of Electoral Commission of Ghana during the just ended limited voters registration exercise.
He pointed out that the Limited Voter Registration Exercise of the EC was characterized by numerous flaws as earlier predicted by the NDC, relevant stakeholders and the general Ghanaian populace – but as usual of the arrogant EC leadership, they were adamant and bent on executing their parochial interests at the peril of the masses who have been taken for granted for far too long.
According to him, the day of reckoning will soon come!
"This morning, we want to focus our attention on the lawless acts of impunity by the criminally minded NPP of Asuogyaman led by their Registration Officials in collaboration with some deficient NPP Constituency Executives.
"These crooks, resourced with the poor overburdened tax payer’s money, have marred the peaceful registration process in Asuogyaman by busing persons from other Constituencies mostly from Ketu North and Lower Manya Krobo Constituencies to register in Asuogyaman to help boost their votes in the upcoming 2024 parliamentary and presidential Elections," he disclosed.
He told journalists that on Thursday 21st, September, 2023, intelligence gathered indicates that about 3 buses full of persons from Ketu North who are entering Asuogyaman to be illegally registered.
He indicated that this was followed up swiftly with surveillance and on 23rd September they were finally brought to the registration center for their names to be written in the book for the registration.
He said "Then on Sunday they were finally brought to the registration center to be registered and our agents challenged almost all of them for Non Residence."
"Yesterday (Monday October 2, 2023, we received another information of another car transporting people from Ketu North and this time we arrested the car with the assistance of the military officers on the Adomi Bridge but the car was subsequently released by the military for us to go to the Atimpoku police station but the NPP registration officials rather defied that order, drove the car to the registration center.
"Apparently some of them in the car were those we challenged on 23rd September and they were bringing them them to face the Review Panel and new ones were also brought to be registered again," he noted.
According to him, their suspicions were finally confirmed when the Chairman of the Review Committee, Nana Akowua,Chief of Powmu ordered for the arrest and detention of two of them before the panel namely Benjamin Dzreke and Promise Kumevor who they confirmed were from Ketu North and not from Asuogyaman Constituency upon interrogation and the others who were waiting for their turn to face the committee flee same as the others also in the queue to register yesterday.
"We want to use this opportunity to sound a strong warning to the NPP and those they are still mobilizing from New Juaben South, Ketu North and Lower Manya especially Kpong to bloat our register to desist immediately because we will ensure they are arrested immediately and we will fight them with everything in us," the NDC faithfuls stressed.
The leadership of Asuogyaman Constituency NDC called on all related stakeholders and institutions to up their games in averting any such negative acts of the NPP and ensure in delivering their best to promote the peace they currently enjoying in the area
To this end, the NDC members and supporters in the area sent a strong warning to the Asuogyaman NPP to desist from their criminal acts, else they face our wrath.
"Just as they didn’t succeed yesterday in stopping the victory of the NDC and the enviable Parliamentary Leadership of Hon.
"Thomas Ampem Nyarko, they will not succeed it today or tomorrow-at all times we shall beat them to it.
"The victory of the NDC is coming again. It is unstoppable. It is so near- together we can," they assured.
