Mr. Henrik  Seiding  Replaces The  Mayor Of Aarhus  As leader of Danish water delegation and official visit to Ghana from 1-3 March
Managing Director, Mr. Henrik Seiding, replaces the Mayor of Aarhus, Mr. Jacob Bundsgaard, during his planned visit to Ghana March 1-3rd March 2022.
Mayor Bundsgaard has unfortunately had to cancel his trip due to the war in Ukraine. As Chairman of the National Association of Local Authorities, Mr. Bundsgaard plays a crucial role as Danish municipalities prepare to receive refugees fleeing the conflict areas.
During this visit to Ghana Managing Director, Henrik Seiding will be accompanied by a delegation from Aarhus Municipality, the utility Aarhus Vand and representatives from Danida Sustainable Infrastructure Finance.
Also during this week, the Embassy of Denmark will welcome a delegation of seven Danish water companies in collaboration with the  Danish Export Association. They will be exploring needs and business opportunities in Ghana’s water sector, gain market insights and build relationships with potential customers and key partners in the water sector.
Denmark has been active in Ghana’s water sector through many decades of development cooperation as well as commercial collaboration. Ghana faces several challenges in stable water delivery, non-revenue water, and wastewater treatment, where Danish solutions, technologies, and experience can make a difference.
Denmark works with a range of actors and instruments in the water sector focusing on partnerships and expanding the commercial collaboration between Denmark and Ghana.
The Managing Director will visit Tema to explore the ongoing activities in the Strategic Sector Cooperation partnership between the Tema Metropolitan Assembly (TMA), the City of Aarhus, Aarhus Vand, and the Ghana Water Company Ltd (GWCL), which began in 2019.
The overall objective of the partnership is to achieve a well-functioning and sustainable water delivery system for Tema’s citizens and businesses, as well as reduce environmental pollution through improved collection and treatment of wastewater.
During the visit, Managing Director, Henrik Seiding, will sign a Memorandum of Understanding with the Mayor of the Tema Metropolitan Assembly (TMA) and the Managing Director of Ghana Water Company Ltd (GWCL), building up to the second phase of the Strategic Sector Cooperation for the next three years, 2023-2025.
Mr. Seiding will also be introduced to the upcoming Aveyime water project, which seeks to deliver water to 1.2 million citizens in Accra’s Eastern part, with financing from Danida Sustainable Infrastructure Finance.
The Danish water companies participating in the delegation are Alumichem, AVK, cBrain, Grundfos, LE34, Ramboll, and SUEZ Denmark. They provide solutions across areas such as water supply and drinking water, non-revenue water, wastewater treatment, and digital solutions for the water sector.
