MP Donates 200 Dual-Desks To 10  Basic Schools In  Upper West Akim

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliamentary (MP) for Upper West Akim Constituency in the Eastern Region, Honorable Fredrick Obeng Adom, has donated 200 dual- desks to Upper West Akim District Education Directorate to be distributed to ten (10) basic schools in the district to help improve the quality of education there.

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliamentary (MP) for Upper West Akim Constituency in the Eastern Region, Honorable Fredrick Obeng Adom, has donated 200 dual- desks to Upper West Akim District Education Directorate to be distributed to ten (10) basic schools in the district to help improve the quality of education there.

Consequently, the MP has also donated 50 begs of cement and roofing sheets to the chief of Asikasu.

Mr Adom was accompanied by the the District Chief Executive (DCE) of for Upper West Akim District Assembly and the District Director of Ghana Service Education including the Upper West Akim Constituency Executives of the NPP.

Addressing the journalists after the donation, the MP promised to add more to the rest of the basic schools when the due time comes.

According to Mr Adom, he decided to make the donations of furnitures to the basic schools after receiving persistent requests from the Upper West Akim District Education Directorate over the lack of desks for the schools.


He indicated that government schools in the constituency were bedevilled with many challenges including infrastructure, computer laboratories, and other learning and teaching materials.

“When I first visited the schools, I was surprised to see that they don’t have furniture, they have leaking roofs.

The MP, therefore, appealed to corporate organisations to partner the government to solve some of the challenges, saying“ some besic schools in the district also need help.”

Mr Adom appealed to the Education Directorate and the beneficiary schools to maintain the desks to prolong their lifespan and derive the maximum benefit.

The management of the beneficiary basic schools commended the MP for the support and that the furniture would encourage the children to focus on their studies and improve on their educational standards.
