A rape charge against the Miss Rwanda pageant organizer was dropped by a Kigali court, but he is still facing charges for additional alleged sex crimes.

Following his arrest late last month, the judge denied Dieudonné Ishimwe bail on Monday.

Mr. Ishimwe was charged with rape, soliciting or giving sexual favors, and harassing pageant contestants.

Last week, he refuted all claims.

The judge, on the other hand, stated that the suspect would be charged with soliciting sexual favors and sexual harassment.

The allegations leveled against Mr. Ishimwe are among the most widely discussed issues on Rwandan social media.

Following the arrest of its organizer, the Rwandan government stopped the Miss Rwanda beauty pageant last week.
