The Ahafo Regional Health Promotion Officer, Catherine Dwamena has entreated the people of the Region to accept sleeping under mosquitoes nets.

The Ahafo Regional Directorate of the Ghana Health Service (GHS) says malaria is leading Out Patient Department (OPD) cases in the region.

The Region has therefore begun mass distribution of free Long-Lasting Treated mosquitoes net to households aimed at eradicating malaria in the Region.

The mass distribution exercise, which begins 27Th July, will end on August 2, 2021.

The use of long-lasting insecticide-treated nets has been a cost-effective approach towards reducing new cases and deaths due to malaria.

The Ahafo Regional Health Promotion Officer, Catherine Dwamena in an interview with Soireenews Sulley Dramani said, from January to June 2021 health facilities in the region recorded 2,5217 comprising 2,693 malaria cases for children under five years while those above five years is 2,524 cases

Catherine Dwamena has therefore entreated the people of Ahafo Region to accept sleeping under mosquitoes nets.
