Jurgen Klopp has reiterated that major signings will not be arriving at Anfield this season.

The Reds have made only one signing – Kostas Tsimikas this summer for a reported £11.7m, an amount believed to have been obtained from the sales of Dejan Lovren to Zenit St Petersburg.

Liverpool have been linked with Bayern Munich midfield maestro, Thiago Alcantara since the season restart, with the player having rejected a contract extension to stay in the Bundesliga yet the deal has been on hold as Klopp’s side seeks to make sales of a player to raise funds for the 29-year old Spaniard.

With Chelsea and Manchester City spree spending in the transfer market, Jurgen Klopp says his team will invest within their means since they do not have 'oligarchs’ owners to extract much funds for players in such a time where clubs finances have been hit by the COVID-19 pandemic.

"Clubs are in different situations and we are living in uncertainty in the world,” Klopp told the BBC.

"For some clubs it seems to be less important how uncertain the future is because they are owned by countries, owned by oligarchs, and that is the truth.

“We are a different kind of club. We reached the Champions League final two years ago, won it the following year, and won the Premier League by being the club we are."

Gini Wijnaldum has been linked with Barcelona and details of his contract are been discussed with the  Reds whether to keep or sell as he enters into the final stage of his contract signed in 2015.

He is estimated to bestow £15m as transfer fee if he joins Barcelona which gives the Reds the room to bring in Alcantara.
