The situation, he averred, is worse in the various cashew farming communities within the Bono Region, market places with business environs and homes also not been expedited by the life-threatening circumstances thus calling for an intensified fire safety education with particular reference to the cost of losses and its effects on livelihood.

"Some people set fire in catchment areas where most cashew farms are located without particular precautions taken to ensure it does not spread to cause damage to other nearby farms. Some fires are also left after using for the purpose it was intended for," he said.

The Star of Africa Montessori Academy proprietor underscored the urgent need for the public to view fire fighting as a shared responsibility and therefore Ghana National Fire Services (GNFS) to deliver on its mandate by observing all fire safety measures recommended to prevent fires from occurring and immediately responding to contingencies.

Mr. Manu was reported to have mapped out strategies some two years ago to intensify education in the Tain District on fire prevention and handling to curb the effect of the outbreak.

"Going forward in 2022, there is going to be more education, inspections, recommendations, and strict monitoring to ensure that people are actually complying with recommendations and how to detect fires and the appropriate means of extinguishing method one should use," he observed.
