The Oti Regional Minister, Nana Kwasi Owusu Yeboah has asked Akyode Residents to let peace prevail.

The Minister made the appeal at a Yam festival in relation to a conflict that arose between the Konkombas and the Akyode community after the Konkombas were reported to have killed a native of the Akyode community.

The Paramount Chief of the Akyode Traditional Area who doubles as a member of Oti Regional House of Chiefs, Nana Obombo Sewurah Lopuwura II, speaking at the yam festival said, some Konkomba youth-led by Nana Takie, the Chief of Bonakye Asuogya, destroyed farm produces of Akyode community and killed a native during the celebration of their yam festival.

Although the perpetrators were arrested, the Akyode Paramount Chief said no government official visited the bereaved family and the residents whose farm produces were destroyed.

Nana Obombo admitted that the fact that Akyode community did not retaliate does not mean they were weak or cannot revenge, however, they wanted the laws of Ghana to work.

"We can equally face the Konkombas, but we want the law to work," the Paramount chief declared.

The Oti Regional Minister, Nana Kwasi Owusu Yeboah however pleaded with the Okyode residents to calm down tempers.

He revealed that the perpetrators, Nana Takie, and his accomplices have been arrested and would be arranged before the law court for strict punishment.

The Minister, therefore, urged the Akyode Community not to revenge, because security intelligence is on the grounds working so "anyone who will be caught, will face the law equally."
