Let Wendy Shay rest; I'm not the inventor of Africa Money, Barima Sidney

After the release of Wendy Shay's song "Africa Money," online users pointed out that the title and content of the song were identical to Barima Sidney's (2009) Africa Money.

Due to suspected copyright infringement, internet users urged Barima Sidney to file a lawsuit against Wendy Shay on social media.

For the straightforward reason that he will not heed any request that would sow division, Barima Sidney decided against taking Wendy Shay to court despite the online outcry.

In a recent interview with Property FM in Cape Coast, he stated, "I haven't addressed this Wendy Shay Africa Money sample because I don't think my sister recorded a sample of my song.

"She has performed her song, and I am not the originator of the words Africa or money, despite certain bloggers' attempts to cause confusion between us.

I didn't have any issues with it since I and she had both made money for Africa, but other blogs had said that Sidney was going to take Wendy Shay to court, and I hadn't responded to them.

We all use the same words that have been around for a while, so anything I say today may have already been uttered by someone else. The words we use in our songs aren't new, nor are they ones that we invented.

I didn't notice anything wrong and assumed it was typical, but my main issue was that bloggers began fabricating stories to attempt to push me against her in hopes that she would react and ignite an idea for them that I'm not sure about.

He went on: "I will never stand anywhere to say that Wendy Shay has sampled my song because of the word Africa I’m not the one who brought it and the word money so if someone put these two words together to create something there’s nothing wrong."
