CDD - Ghana Calls For Stronger Regulatory Body To Regulates Operations Of Media Houses

Ghana Centre for Democratic Development (CDD - Ghana) wants the government to set a stronger regulatory body to regulate the operations of Media Houses across the country.

In an interview with Soiree News Nana Anfreh, the Programme's Coordinator for CDD - Ghana, Mr. Abroampah said, “across the world media organizations are regulated because of universal perceptions that media operations can significantly impact on economies, social policies, political debate and above all, the lives of people”.

“In the broadest sense, regulation consists of any influences over media operations and media content influences that are both external to and internal to media sectors”, emphasized.

The Civil Society Think Tank wants the regulatory body to be bipartisan to bring sanity and fairness in their work.

CDD - Ghana also called on the government to with immediate effect stop what they say is the apparent resurrection of the long abolished criminal libel law in the country.
