Former National Organizer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Kofi Adams has dedicated his win in the Buem Constituency of the Oti Region to the former president of Ghana and founder of the party, the late Jerry John Rawlings.

He recorded 18,528 votes in the constituency against Lawrence Kwame Aziale of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) who garnered 6,843 votes.

Speaking on Kessben FM on Tuesday morning, Kofi Adams spoke that the death of the former president although was depressing yet served as a motivation for him ascertain victory to practice the leadership qualities gained.

“My political journey apart from God was through the late president Rawlings,” he said.

“His death affected me but it was an inspiration to my political career and I am happy to have won. It could have been a great joy if the NDC won the National elections but it might not be so yet, I dedicate the victory to him.”

Kofi Adams in 2013 filed nomination to contest the seat after the death of Henry Kamal Ford, then-Member of Parliament but was disqualified by the National Executive Committee after he was implicated in a secret recording. With hard work at the constituency level, he has been selected as the people’s favourite.

“People had the impression that since I have not been active on television, I was not effective. In fact, I worked underground and knew God was on our side but it wasn’t easy," he added.
