Lawyer Amoako Andrew Asiamah has won the parliamentary seat in the Fomena Constituency in the Adansi North District after the provisional results.

The Independent candidate garnered 12, 805 votes against Philip Ofori Asante of the NPP’s 10,798.

Honourable Amoako Andrew Asiamah contested for the New Patriotic Party in 2016 but lost the parliamentary primaries to Philip Ofori Asante. His decision to contest for the parliamentary candidate due to inconsistencies during the primaries was frowned at by Party Executives following General Secretary of the NPP, Mr John Boadu's statement on October 13, 2020, that by going as an independent candidate, Mr Asiamah had forfeited his membership of the party per the Article 3(9) of the party’s constitution.

He decided to contest as an independent candidate and the love of the people, he was voted by constituents to represent the constituency in Ghana’s parliament, this time as an independent candidate.

He won the Parliamentary elections last four years by 14,823 votes against the NDC’s William Adjei-Mensah who recorded 4,180 votes.

The NDC candidate, Christina Ama Ranson Barabu also recorded 2,608 votes.

Another candidate Eric Appiagyei had 158 votes.

The total votes cast was 26,616 with 26,369 valid votes and 247 rejected ballots.
