The shooting of a Nigerian national in Civitanova, Marche province, Italy, was denounced by the Nigerian government on Sunday.

On Friday, the video was taken of the assault on the 39-year-old guy that occurred in broad daylight.

Anger on social media was prompted by the recording, which was allegedly made by bystanders without any attempt to interfere.

An Italian man, 32, has been detained on suspicion of homicide and robbery.

According to a statement by Francisca Omanyuli, the spokeswoman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, "The Federal Government of Nigeria condemns in the harshest terms the senseless murder of Alika Ogorchukwu by an anonymous Italian man."

The ministry instructed the ambassador to Italy to cooperate with the Italian authorities in their investigation of the situation.

Ambassador Mfawa Omini Abam urged Nigerians living in Italy to maintain their composure.

Politicians in Italy have also condemned the incident.
