President Muhammadu Buhari has agreed to address the house of representatives on insecurity.

The Speaker, Femi Gbajabiamila made the confirmation on Wednesday.

The lawmaker spoke to State House correspondents after meeting with Buhari at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, according to The Cable.

Gbaja disclosed that a date had been agreed and will be made public soon.

The Speaker said the President is concerned about the spate of insecurity in the country.

He said: ''And what we basically sought is to convey the resolution of the house and to fix a date, which we did not fix out of respect for Mr President and his very tight schedule, what date will be convenient. We have agreed on a date and he will meet with the house to address the situation.''

“He’s is a perfect democrat. He will come and address the House in the nearest future.”

The speaker said Buhari is more concerned about the trend of things in the country, assuring Nigerians that the president is committed to the security of lives and property.

On Tuesday at the plenary, the Green Chamber of the National Assembly agreed on a motion to invite Buhari.

This followed the Borno massacre by Boko Haram last Saturday.

But some of the lawmakers including the speaker had tried to block it, arguing that the president’s presence was not needed.

However, other lawmakers said the recent attack by Boko Haram insurgents shows the need for the president to appear before the lawmakers.
