Manchester United must at least grab a point in Germany against RB Leipzig to qualify into the knockout round of the Champions League after a 3-1 loss to PSG at home.

PSG, Man United and RB Leipzig are all on nine points separated by goal difference, with Leipzig winning 3-2 in Turkey against Istanbul Basaksehir.

It was a perfect start for PSG when Neymar scored the opener at Old Trafford in the 6-minute.

Mbappe took advantage of some poor positioning from McTominay in midfield and drove towards the United defence. Maguire got out to him and made a block but the ball looped into the air and into the path of Neymar. The angle was tight but Neymar controlled a fierce half-volley into the far corner.

Fred escaped a Red card decision after pushing his head into Verratti but the referee deemed the headbutt worthy of just a booking.

Rashford equalized in the 32-minute after the home side came closer on a few occasions.

Wan-Bissaka kept the ball alive down the right and pulled it back for Rashford to strike from 20 yards. It was a tame effort that was heading into the hands of Navas but Diallo stuck a leg out and deflected the ball at a snail’s pace towards the bottom corner.

Martial couldn’t put a finish on what would have been a classic Manchester United goal after Cavani somehow found a flick to send Rashford away down the right. PSG were all over the show and his cross was on plate for Martial from six yards but he spooned it over the crossbar.

Once again, Cavani hit the crossbar from 20-yard out after beating the goalkeeper who rushed to save the ball. Fernandes opened up PSG and Cavani got away through the middle. Navas came off his line and the striker chipped a quite sensational effort over the goalkeeper from 20 yards but it bounces back off the bar. Fernandes got to the loose ball and set up Martial from 10 yards but Marquinhos brilliant tackle was a goal-saving block to deny the host the winner.

Marquinhos scored PSG’s second after Man United failed to clear a corner - a strike from Bakker defected into the path of the skipper and he poked his team ahead.

Fred was sent off later after attracting a second yellow card for a foul on Verratti before Neymar scored his second and PSG’s third to win all points t Old Trafford.

The loss means Man Utd need just a draw from their final game, away to RB Leipzig in Germany.
