Infrastructure  Projects Galore  Rocks Ga Central  ...As MCE Awards Several Major Communities Road Contracts

The Ga Central Municipal Assembly in the Greater Accra Region has awarded a huge load of the major communities road construction projects to the various separate local road contractors to be constructed in the thirteen twenty  electoral areas within the municipality and will be completed before the end of 2024.  

The newly-confimed Ga Central Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Mr Mohammed Basiru who disclosed this to Soireenews.com senior reporter stated that the Assembly has prioritised some of the critical roads in the electoral areas of the municipality.  

According to Mr. Basiru who double as the Anyaa-Sowutuom constituency executives Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), the contractors would soon move to the sites of the projects to commerce works and when completed will help to improve the road networks infrastructure development in the municipality.

The MCE bemoaned the deplorable state of the various major roads which connects the municipality to some commercial business, school and residential areas in Accra that has been a subject of grave concern to many residents of the electoral areas and the public.

Mr. Basiru who disclosed this when he was speaking in an inclusive interview with this online news portal on Wednesday December 29, 2021 to  deliver his Christmas and the 2022 new year messages to his constituents.

"As we celebrated the birth of Christ Jesus on Christmas, Mr. Basiru shared tidings and called on the constituents to shun away from social vices which will put them into trouble.

He said the "almight God has been kind, merciful and good to us" and entreated all the people including clergymen, chief imams, pastors and traditional office holders in the municipality to be a law abiding citizens.

"So far we have not heard of any criminal activity or social vice of anybody during this year Christmas season and so we thank God for that," the MCE noted.

"To my beloved Ga Central constituents, the management and staff of the Ga Central Municipal Assembly including the supporters and members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Anyaa- Sowutuom constituency, I will like to wish you all a merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. It is my prayer that 2022 will bring us all good tidings,' the MCE stressed.

He added that "I am grateful to have this opportunity to serve as the Municipal Chief Executive for Ga Central Municipality. To share some thoughts with my fellow citizens and with our friends and neighbours throughout the municipality. Try as we might, none of us can predict the future."

He stated that we need to listen more to one another.

"Let’s actively seek out ideas and encourage everyone who wants to contribute positively to our community. "We need to nurture a confidence in ourselves and a strong belief in our ability to achieve remarkable things together," he further stressed.

He congratulated President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for appointing him to steer the affairs of the Assembly and called for the support of his constituents to help deliver his tasks entrusted into his hands to bring sustainable development to the area.

He pointed out that the government through the Greater Accra Regional Minister, Mr Henry Quartey has currently launched the Operation Clean Your Frontage" Campaign which is a game-changer to the menace of poor environmental sanitation in the region.

The campaign, according to the MCE, is a clarion call on all citizens by President Akufo-Addo, to appreciate that keeping their environment clean and green is one of the prerequisites for leading a healthy and happy life.

He added that the campaign is part of measures by the Greater Accra Regional Coordinating Council to keep the city clean.

"If l clean my frontage and you clean your frontage, then we are going to have holistic cleaness in the Ga Central municipality. And in this ways Greater Accra Region would work. So as we want the municipality to work, then let us all put our hands on the deck to take  the campaign seriously in order to achieve the intended purpose of the campaign," he emphasized.

Additionally, the MCE noted that "l know some of social and infrastructural development challenges that we are facing in terms of our poor road networks and the water not flowing daily in some electoral areas, we are working assiduously to resolve these problems."

He pointed out that the Assembly has fixed the Agape community road, adding that the Bokoboko stretch road has also been fixed and tarred.

According to him, the road networks from Raise Course has been reshaped.

"In same ways, he noted that the Assembly has devised measures to ensure that all major road networks in other electoral areas within the municipality are fixed.

According to the MCE, the Assembly has generally awarded the contracts of roads, gutters and drainages to the various contracts and very some soon the contractors would be at the sites to commerce the projects.

"The other road networks include the roads in Adu Gyamfi, Blue Kiosk Area, Odorgono Senior High School junction,Onyinase to Kokoloko, Palarce Town, Fanmilk,Santa Maria to Anyaa and Kwashiebu would be reshaped soon," the MCE disclosed.

"It would be our pleasure to solve the problems of the poor road networks within the municipality,the MCE stated.

Against this background, he called on the residents to remain calm and be law abiding citizens to support the government through the Assembly to improve upon the road networks infrastructure within the 13 electoral areas in the municipality.

He mentioned that it is almost top priority of the current government under President Alufo-Addo to make sure that all the roads in Ga Central municipality would be motorable in order to improve movements which help people in more complex activities.

He stated that his outfit realised that transport or movement of goods and people on motorable roads to the various marketing create employment, support economic growth, hence the decision of the government through the Assembly to make the movement of the people comfortable.

When asked what are the measures put in place by the Assembly to ensure the finishing of the unfinished  projects left behind by the immediate past MCE in the area, the MCE gave assurance that the Assembly would devised innovative measures  to complete these projects as it was done to fix the poor road networks in Agape and other places within the municipality.
