I'm a human, and you should be aware by this point that none of us are perfect in this life —Shatta Wale

Shatta Wale, a Grammy Award-winning dancehall artist, turns 17 today. In reflecting on his life, he acknowledges that he is only human and has many flaws.

I'm a human, and you should be aware by this point that none of us are perfect in this life —Shatta Wale

The Taking Over musician encouraged people to concentrate on his music and enjoy the "sweet melodies and find happiness in your life" in a Facebook post earlier today.

Shatta Wale urged his fans to spend the day with him in love rather than hatred, adding, "Be part of the shatta story and don't be late!!"

“After today I want to stay calm and do what God asked me to come do for mankind ...please and please you can be my friend if only you don’t come into my life to torment Me.

Yes, I am human and you should know by now that we are not perfect in this life.so please kindly try hard to pay attention to my sweet melodies and find happiness in your life..

I have been thru the worst things but I trod on because of my belief in the most high God and that spirit has made me realize the most precious gift we have in this world ..

It’s my birthday and I want you to start celebrating with me in love but not hate.

Be part of the shatta story and don’t be late !!”, Shatta Wale wrote.

The current Artiste of the Year winner of the Ghana Music Awards (GMA-UK) is no stranger to controversy.

Shatta Wale, who sees himself as the "savior" of Ghanaian music, has been adamantly advocating for what he sees as the necessary actions to advance Ghana's music business for a considerable amount of time.

However, some business leaders have taken issue with his somewhat "raw" approach to some of these problems.

Perhaps his birthday message is a subliminal plea to his detractors to embrace his imperfections.
