IGP approves 24-hour Regional Highway Patrol Unit by the Upper East Regional Police Command

The Upper East Regional Police Command assures the public of enhancing security arrangements to counter violent crimes in the region.

The Acting Inspector General of Police, Dr George Akuffo Dampare has approved the establishment of a 24-hour Regional Highway Patrol Unit by the Upper East Regional Police Command to immediately deal with Highway robberies and other violent crimes. 

Also, a unit that comprises a platoon of robust and psychologically prepared personnel for combat operation will be formed to ensure public safety and security in the region.

This was contained in a release by the Public Affairs Unit of the Ghana Police Service signed by the Assistant Superintendent and Public Affairs Officer of the Upper East Region, David Fianko-Okyere.

There shall be a patrol route and point for the Regional Highway Patrol team which is the Karimenga-Bolgatanga-Navarongo -Paga Highway with a patrol point at Pusu Namongo b. Bolgatanga-Tilli Forest-Bawku Highway with a patrol point at Tilli Forest. 

The Upper East Regional Police Command assures the public of enhancing security arrangements to counter violent crimes in the region.

They are, therefore, calling for improved Police Public Partnership in information sharing for effective crime-fighting in the region.
