If we take the campaign for granted, we will be disappointed - Freddy Blay to NPP Parliamentary candidates
Freddy Blay, New Patriotic Party (NPP) National Chairman.

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) National Chairman, Freddy Blay has called on the parliamentary candidates in the Ashanti Region to avoid complacency and put in every effort to win the heart of electorates ahead of the December 7 elections.

He revealed that the party is not just aiming to stay in power for eight years, however, for the sake of Ghanaians welfare, it is planning ahead of the 2024 and 2028 elections, and will define the needed strategies to keep providing the best of services for the progress of Ghana.

“Ashanti region is the motor of the party. And when the motor starts working, then you achieve what you want to achieve,” he said.

“Some time ago, we didn’t have the power in our hands, irrespective of what we did as NPP, even in parliament, we were 65, but now as we talk, we are 169 representatives. We are not aiming at 2020, but 2024, 2028 and 2032. The power has come and we must ensure that it doesn’t slip from our hands and if that would be possible, it is you (parliamentarians) who are going to work for it,” he added.

The New Patriotic Party held its Ashanti Regional Campaign Launch and Outdooring of Parliamentary candidates on Sunday, September 27, 2020, at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) Great Hall. The event was purposely to unveil the 47 parliamentary leaders of the party ahead of the upcoming elections and devise strategies to win the majority of votes in the Region.

Party members and lots of staunch supporters gathered at the venue to hear the words of hope of leaders surrounding the upcoming elections and measures put in place to support the various constituencies in terms of campaigns.

Freddy Blay assured that the job would not only hang on the shoulders of the MPs but, the party are working on the ground to make sure that people entitled to vote are convinced enough to entrust their hopes in the NPP. He spoke that although the Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo’s government have been involved in beneficial policies for Ghana’s development yet that alone cannot influence the people unless the message is communicated.

He challenged that the Ashanti Region must garner more than 85 per cent out of the three million registered voters for Nana Addo to continue reigning together with the various parliamentary candidates.

“We have 275 seats in this country and now we have registered 16 million people who are going to vote. We want the over three million people who are registered in the Ashanti region, most of them if not 85 per cent, you should win these seats.

“Others are working, not only the chairmen, but the party will ensure that you win but the responsibility lies upon you. Don’t be complacent, don’t take things for granted.

The opposition is prepared and doing things as possible to make sure that we get voted on 7 December to continue our good works. That’s why on the 7, apart from the hullabaloo and jamborees, the work is still to be done and I know the little push from your men, we will get the 80-95 per cent votes in the region and win majority seats.

“Ghanaians are expecting NPP to continue doing well and make this country prosperous. If we take it for granted, we will be disappointed.”
