In a conversation with the host of Onua Showtime, Nana Ama McBrown in the night on Sunday June 11, 2023, Mr Kyei-Mensah disclosed that he started his singing career with the fetish Gods, voodoo Atigari when he was young.

Baffour Kyei-Mensah (BKM) who is one of the finest Adventist Musician with a great talent from God has talked about his journey of the gospel singing career.
In a conversation with the host of Onua Showtime, Nana Ama McBrown in the night on Sunday June 11, 2023, Mr Kyei-Mensah disclosed that he started his singing career with the fetish Gods, voodoo Atigari when he was young.
He mentioned that when he was young, he worshipped fetish Gods,called voodoo Atigari, saying that he was known at Kenyasi, the capital of the Asutifi North District in the Ahafo Region as a good singer of voodoo songs.
He indicated that in Kenyasi township"my name has become a household name for signing of the songs for the fetish Gods."
"When the fetish people are playing the drums to worship the fetish Gods, he was the one who usually led in singing of the voodoo songs," the now Gospel musician revealed.
Mr Kyei-Mensah told Nana Ama McBrown that at the time he was singing the songs for the festish Gods, l never knew that almighty God has a good plan for me to use me to do something special for christianity."
He stated that at the time he was a 12-year-old, the people of Kenyasi have established a Seventh-day Adventist Church.
"Very interestingly at that time all the churches l went to worship with them in the area, their members would sack me from their churches with accusation that l worshipped fetish Gods. They told me that l have been singing voodoo songs for the fetish Gods so they would allow me to attend their churches. 
"However, one day l have stolen the cloth of my grandmother and hide it under the cement block at where we usually played our juvenile football. 
"So when my grandmother asked me to accompany her to farm that day l lied to her that l fell sick and pretended like lam sleeping. However, when l saw that my grandmother left home to farm, l quickly went to remove the cloth and wore it and quickly went to the Seventh-day Adventist Church. And finally the congregation of the church had accepted me but thought otherwise "Mr Kyei-Mensah narrated.
Mr Kyei-Mensah reaffirmed that it was "my decision to change the singing of the voodoo songs to the gospel songs which has really informed my decision to join the Seventh-day Adventist Church ."
He mentioned that God has blessed him with tatent of singing gospel songs at the age of 13 years, saying that he started singing the gospel songs for past 50 years.
"I want state clearly that for the 50 years l started singing the gospel songs, l have never written the gospel songs before but the God has blessed with me talent to compose many gospel songs which are in Ghanaian musical market," he explained
According to Mr Kyei-Mensah, he has so far released over twenty-two (22) gospel songs into the public domain, saying that all the songs he has produced and released into the Ghanaian musical market were the help of the God.
The famous Ghanaian gospel musician pointed out that when he admitted himself in the Seventh-day Adventist Church at Kenyasi in the year of 1972, by the grace of God he joined the singing band group of the church.
According to Mr. Kyei-Mensah, it took the leadership of the church for ten years before they baptised him to become a full member of the church, with the explanation that they deliberately delayed my baptism to text my intelligen that "l have really accepted the God into my life.'
