Statistics by the Ghana Road Safety indicates, that a total of 1,450 people lost their lives to road crashes between January and June 2021, the statistics continued that from the Motor Traffic and Transport Department of the Police Service have also confirmed.

A woman has died in a fatal head-on collision between Hyundai H100 and Daf Tanker truck on Asamankese-Akwatia Highway in the Eastern Region of Ghana.

The Hyundai H100 mini bus with registration number GG-4476-20 was then driven by one Foster Afram, with nine(9) passengers on board was heading towards Akwatia, but on reaching Awaham junction, it collided with a DAF Tanker Truck with registration number GE – 2213 – 11 also driven by Suliman Mohammed, with two persons on board.

Gladys Agyapong who was onboard in the Hyundai H100, died on the spot while the rest of the passengers sustained various degrees of injuries and rushed to St. Dominic Hospital in Akwatia.

Statistics by the Ghana Road Safety indicates, that a total of 1,450 people lost their lives to road crashes between January and June 2021, the statistics continued that from the Motor Traffic and Transport Department of the Police Service have also confirmed.

The disturbing figures also indicate that 200 persons died in June (2021) alone while 1250 people were killed from January to May.

This represents a 27.19% increase compared to the same time that 1,040 people lost their lives last year.
