22-Year-Old Unemployed Sentenced 16  Years To Prison Custody For Robbery

Wenchi Circuit Court presided over by His Lordship Justice Frederick Arnold Nawura has sentenced 22-year-old unemployed Ali Yussif to 16 years of imprisonment for robbery.

The facts of the case as presented by Chief Inspector Victor Samadzi, indicate that the convict is unemployed at Wa - anoma,  a suburb of Wenchi, while the complainant is a shop Assistance also lived at Jensoso.

The prosecutor said on 22nd April 2022 at 8:00 pm at Jensoso a suburb of Wenchi in the Bono Region the convict robbed one Serwah Florence of her Tecno Spark mobile phone valued at eight hundred and fifty Ghana cedis (GH¢ 850.00).

Complainant Serwah Florence, age 20 is a shop Assistance and lives at Jensoso a suburb of Wenchi.

The convict Ali Yussif age 22, is unemployed and lives at Wa - anoma also a suburb of Wenchi in the Bono Region, on 22nd April 2022 at about 8:00 pm, the complainant was returning home from work through a path. 

Chief Inspector Victor Samadzi further explained that the complainant on reaching a section of the path, the accused Ali Yussif who was armed with a pair of scissors emerged and demanded her mobile phone.

The prosecutor said the complainant refused and the convict used scissors to stab her severally on the body and succeeded in taking the Tecno Spark 5 phone valued at GH¢ 850.00 from her.

Ali Yussif after taking the phone started running away and the complainant chased him amidst shouts for help with the assistance of sympathizers, the accused was arrested together with the Tecno Spark 5 mobile phone he robbed from the complainant and handed over to the police.

After a complainant was filed against him, after investigations he was charged with the offenses stated in the charge sheet and arraigned before this honorable court the prosecutor added.

The accused pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 16 years of imprisonment.
