The Bono East Regional Police Command has revealed that the boy is in very good condition and he is in the hands of some good doctors at the Okomfo Anokye Teaching Hospital in Kumasi.

The Bono East Regional Police Command has reacted to news published on social media concerning the shooting of an 18-year-old boy with the name Obeng Emmanuel who is a form 2 Student of Techiman Senior High School ( TESS), by some police personnel.

The incident which occurred at Krobo in the Techiman North District has attracted a lot of backlash from some Ghanaians who believe such shooting incidents are becoming one too many in the country.

Reacting to these backlashes, the Bono East Regional Police Commander, DCOP Asumadu Okyere Darko, has revealed that, the boy is in very good condition and he is in the hands of some good doctors at the Okomfo Anokye Teaching Hospital in Kumasi.

Speaking to the media, the DCOP Okyere Darko, said Obeng Emmanuel was quickly rushed to the Holy Family Hospital after the unfortunate incident but was later referred to the Okomfo Anokye Teaching Hospital for specialist medical care.

Given an account of the incident, the regional commander said the two police officers involved in the incident were returning from their night duties around 11:30 pm when a group of hostile young men started to attack him.

"They started throwing stones at them and according to the one who's gun discharged, said he crocked his gun to scare them but they will still throwing the stones." 

"He decided to hide and slipped in the process and his gun mistakenly discharged". DCOP Asumadu Okyere Darko disclosed.

He assured the family of the victim that, all bills which will be incurred during the treatment of the 18-year-old boy will be footed by the police department.

He further stated that the command has deployed CID officials to run a full investigation into the unfortunate incident.
