The Minister of Health Kwaku Agyeman Manu has justified the government of Ghana 2021 Covid-19 Expenditure of GHc662,541,104.53 by the Health Ministry alone

According to the sector Minister, the Ministry spent about GHc114.4 million to procure PPE's for health officials and others to prevent to spread of the pandemic

He added the Ministry needed to spend such monies to save lives amidst inadequate budgetary allocation in the sector

Other items summed up in the expenditure were the procurement of medicines, Infection, Preventive and Control commodities, transfers to agencies, meetings, and conferences to help mitigate the spread

He revealed this at a press briefing in Accra on Wednesday, February 9, 2022, to update the nation on the progress of mitigating the spread of Covid-19 in Ghana

Agyeman Manu, therefore, assured that no funds have been embezzled hence auditors are scrutinizing the report for clarifications

Hon Kwaku Agyeman Manu again hinted they have so far paid GHc1. 04 billion to Service Providers of the National Health Insurance Scheme, owing only four months arrears to be paid.

He again hinted plans are far advanced to add family planning to the NHIS and also review tariffs.
