The Greater Accra chapter of the Ghana Private Road Transport Union(GPRTU) of the Trade Union Congress(TUC) has set 11th May, for its regional election.

In that date, the Greater Accra chapter is expected to elect new executives to run the affairs of the union. In an interview with the Communications Director of the GPRTU, Alhaji Abass Imoro, he said preparations were underway to ensure proper conduct of the regional election in May this year. He noted that per the constitutional requirement, It is mandated that the union holds elections every four years therefore the set date. He said failure to do so will amount to a breach of the union's constitution. He said the election will be conducted by the electoral commission of Ghana so no officer can manipulate the electoral process. "The election is going to be free and fair during and after the election to prevent rigging", he noted He was optimistic that the election will be held devoid of violence, free and fair due to the competency of the aspirants. The GPRTU expressed its gratitude to the aspirants while admonishing that whoever emerges as a winner must be respected as such.
