The Acting District Chief Executive for Jaman North district, Honorable Adane Ankomah has pressed cashew farmers in the district to continuously cultivate more land for cashew production to boost the economic growth in the district.

Speaking at a program Organized by the District Directorate of Agriculture in collaboration with the Jaman North district Assembly as part of the planting for export and Rural Development initiative to distribute over 20,000 cashew seedlings to farmers, Honorable Adane Ankomah stated, the Jaman North District has been recognised as cashew growing area hence the farmers must continue to uplift the good name in cashew production.

He added that the NPP government is keen to fix the cashew pricing issues through the tree crop Development Authority within the shortest possible time. He encouraged the cashew farmers to work assiduously for the Development of the District and Ghana at large

He also urged the youth in the Jaman North District to avail themselves of cashew farming and other cash crops activities. He said, “farming is one of the recognize and respected occupation in the country which ensures economic growth and so the government is poise to support any youth in the agricultural sector”.

The Director of Agriculture in the Jaman North district Mr Emmanuel Afful on his part explained that the program is under the planting for export and Rural Development initiative which is centred on the cultivation of cash crops for National Development.

He stressed that the Jaman North district is known as a hub for cashew production hence the district through the initiative raises cashew seedlings for the farmers yearly to enhance the cashew production. He added that the district raised over 20,000 seedlings this Year of which each farmer is entitled to 40 seedlings.

Some of the farmers who were present during the presentation of the seedlings expressed their gratitude to the DCE and the director of Agriculture for the initiative.
