Olivier Giroud has revealed that Chelsea’s upfront competition is for the best of the club.

The French forward will face stiffer opposition from new signing, Timo Werner who is likely to be Frank Lampard’s preferred starter in the upcoming League season in the Blues diamond formation.

Giroud at the start of last season had his spot surrendered to Tammy Abraham but in a dip in form of the English forward earned the world cup winner the opportunity to lead the front line.

Chelsea have strengthened their attacking ranks by bringing in Timo Werner to lead and Kai Havertz to support – the reinforcement of the Blues team through the Germen’s offensive mechanism.

“We want to be in the race for the title and I’m here. I finished the season well and I proved to the manager that he can count on me.

“Werner is not the same profile as me, I hope to have some playing time.”
