Ghana's Democracy Cannot Survive Without a Well-Resourced Judiciary -Chief Justice Anin-Yeboah.

The Chief Justice of Ghana, Justice Anin Yeboah has called on the Ghanaian citizenry to play their role very well to ensure that, the democracy we are enjoying in this country thrives on the wheel of sustainability.

He however emphasized that this cannot happen without a well-resourced judiciary which is the 'passion' of the rule of law.

He made the call during the inauguration of a Moot Court in the Ablekuma West Constituency of the Greater Accra Region.

The court is said to be dealing with gender-based violence-related cases such as sexual abuse, physical harm and threat against women and children in the country.

He reiterated that the newly established court may not automatically curtail such violence but will ensure the provision and coordination of the cases against women and girls who are victims and survivors of such violence cases.

Meanwhile, the Member of Parliament for Ablekuma West Constituency, Ursula Owusu Akufo on her part called on organizations to assist in building befitting houses for judges since they can not live in a rented house as that could influence their Judgement.

She also called on the chiefs to desist from begging on behalf of suspects but to allow the police to effectively and efficiently handle their cases for a fruitful end.

Akwashogtse of the Semoey Traditional Area of the Greater Accra Region, Nii Odotey Odaawulu (I) says the establishment of such a court in the constituency will curtail the travelling burden of both the citizens and the police when pursuing a case in the community.
