Ghanaian Police Man Takes A British Convict To His House

A Ghanaian police detective at the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Headquarters, has sent a British convict into his home to live with instead of sending him to a sentence of three years imprisonment to the Nsawam prison for defrauding by pretenses has now become serious trouble with the law.

Kwame Adu Asabere who is the Detective Lance Corporal is said to have forged the ‘’police removal of prisoner book’’ to indicate that the convict has been handed over to the prison authorities.

The British, Harold Davies Johnson also called Emmanuel Snowden has been arrested for defrauding one Dr. Shadrack Asare and the police detective had been assigned to investigate the case after which he was instructed to charge and put Emmanuel before the court.

The case went through the trial at the Accra Circuit Court ‘2’, presided over by Naa Adjeley Quaison, and the British were found guilty and jailed for three years.

Detective L/C Asabere would, however, not send the convicted criminal to Nsawam, but took him to his house at Sapeiman, in Accra, to live with him, and went ahead, to forge the “police removal of prisoner book” to cover up.

He is also reported to have given Snowden’s British Passport, which he was keeping, back to him after Snowden promised to arrange for him to travel outside.

The police detective has already appeared before an Accra circuit court to answer for his actions. Detective L/C Asabere has been charged with sham, abetment of crime, and corruption by a public official.

He denied any wrongdoing, and the court, presided over by Mrs. Patricia Amponsah, remanded him.

Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Sylvester Asare, told the court that the accused is a detective lance corporal, stationed at the CID Headquarters in Accra.

In 2019, he investigated a case of defrauding brought against Snowden, which ended in the sentencing of Snowden to three years imprisonment.

The accused officer instead of sending the convict to the Nsawam prison, took him to his house to live with him and forged an official document to show that the convicted criminal had been handed over to the prison authorities.
