He confirmed to Joy FM that the event will still take place in Ghana in an interview conducted on the margins of an editors' forum held at the Accra City Hotel on Monday, August 14, 2023, despite the news that Nigeria will host its version this year.

Event Horizon Entertainment Limited and the Ghanaian government agreed to a five-year hosting agreement for Afro Nation.

The concert had previously taken place in Ghana from December 27 to December 30, 2019 at Laboma Beach in Accra.

The Ghana Tourism Authority and President Nana Akufo-Addo were present when the agreement between the Ghanaian government and the Afro Nation organizers was signed.

Akwasi Agyemang, the CEO of the Ghana Tourism Authority, stated in an interview on Asaase Radio a few months ago that he had learned that other nations have showed interest in hosting events like AfroFuture (formerly Afrochella) and Afro Nation.

Concerns about how it would impact Afro Nation Ghana and the overall December in GH effort have been voiced by certain Ghanaians.
