The biggest artist in Africa, according to the Recording Academy, the organization behind the Grammy Awards, is Nigerian Afrobeat musician Burna Boy.

Burna Boy was nominated four times at the Grammy Awards in 2024.

The Grammys said, "There is not a bigger star in Afrobeats or even in the whole of Africa itself than Burna Boy," while praising the artist and others.

The self-described "African Giant" has collaborated with international celebrities like Ed Sheeran and Justin Bieber and is the recipient of two straight GRAMMY nominations for Best Global Album for his albums Twice as Tall and African Giant.

Once the Recording Academy announced its nomination list on Friday, the initial enthusiasm and anticipation among Ghanaian music aficionados and fans of award-winning Dancehall musician Stonebwoy was regrettably turned into a mountain of despair.

Stonebwoy was not selected for a coveted Grammy Awards nomination for his most recent album, "5th Dimension."

It seems that the dream will have to wait for the time being, despite great anticipation and optimism surrounding Stonebwoy's possible historic nomination at this year's Grammys.

Nonetheless, some well-known figures from the African music industry are included on the list. Notable mentions include South African breakout artist Tyla, who attracted attention with her viral track "Water," and Nigerian superstars Davido, Asake, Arya Starr, and Olamide.
