Scores of concerned citizens of Mepe Traditional Area in the North Tongu District of the Volta Region have mounted intense pressure on the Member of Parliament (MP) for the area, Honourable Samuel Ekudzeto-Ablakwa to redeem his promise of setting up educational scholarship fund in honour of the late senior citizen of Mepe, Mr. Julious Edwin Arku Adjaklo to provide the financial assistance to some students in the area.

According to them, the pieces of evidence available to them clearly shows that the MP has failed to redeem his promise he publicly made to the citizens of Mepe to set-up an educational scholarship fund in honour of the late Mr.Arku Adjaklo.

They stated that the North Tongu legislator made this yet-to-be-fulfilled promise when he mounted the podium at the final vfuneral rite of their beloved late Arku Adjaklo help in the Roman Catholic Church premises at Mepe on Saturday February 25, 202 to address the mourners.
They indicated that they suspected that the young outspoken politician has made this promise to ostensibly score his political points.

Following this announcement, they pointed out that the MP received a big round of applause from the teeming mourners gathered at the final funeral rite of the late Mr. Arku Adjaklo, who doubles as the former headmaster of the Sogakope Senior High School (SOGASCO) and Mepe St. Kizito Senior High Technical School, formerly known as Mepe Technical Institute which was founded in the year 1988.

However, for almost four months now, the Mepe citizens noted that their checks from the closed members of the family of the late Mr. Arku Adzjklo have indicated that Honourable Okudzeto-Ablakwa has failed to set up the fund.
"We are asking our MP to redeem this of his current promise he made to us because we have realized that Mr.Okudzeto-Ablakwa have found of making series of empty promises to the chiefs and people of Mepe.

"We haven't forgotten to tell our MP that, it is the same MP who made some promises to the chiefs and people of Mepe at one of their grand dubars to celebrate their annual Afenortor festival that he would ensured that the central government put in place contingency measures to fix the "very death trap road" from Sege through Battor-Aveyime to Mepe.

"..but we would like to remember him that for the past many years that Honourable Okudzeto-Ablskwa made this promise, the road is still not fixed which was causing series of road clash accidents in the area.
"The road from Sege through Battor-Aveyime to Mepe is in a very terrible shape and the residents, commuters, motorists, everybody is complaining about that stretch of the road in the area. It's just unfortunate that the current NPP government and MP are all paying deaf ears to our plight.
"We have been asking series of questions about our roads and the reason why the government and MP are not attending to them but all these questions we ask are falling on deaf ears," the residents complained to Soireenews.com.

The citizens of Mepe told Soireenews.com that Mr Okuzeto-Ablajwa has not even approached the family members of the late Mr Arku Adzaklo to have the proper discussion on the way forward on how he is going to set up the educational fund.
"We are asking for this as a wake up call to the Honourable Ekudzeto-Ablakwa to ensure that he fulfills his promise to set up the fund to actualise his aim of providing equal learning opportunities to support education of children in the constituency. Because we have been the witnesses of what he has said that day which was Saturday February 25, 2023,"  they stressed.

They asserted that the citizenry, including the chiefs, queen-mothers, other prominent traditional office holders, teachers, retire educationalists, students, faith-based organisations, Roman Fathers were present on the day in their numbers.

Aside this development, the citizens of the area have condemned the ruling New Patriotic Party, MP and DCE for the woes and misfortunes of the people in the area.

They explained that the poor road network from Sege to Mepe is a result of neglect by the ruling NPP government, MP and the DCE.
They added that steps taken to address this misfortune and build decent road from Sege to Mepe have proven futile.
