Four Nigeria parties challenge Tinubu's election win

Bola Tinubu's victory in the presidential election on February 25 was legally challenged on Tuesday by four Nigerian opposition groups.

Hours before a constitutional deadline to contest the election results expired, Atiku Abubakar of the People's Democratic Party (PDP), Peter Obi of the Labour Party, Solomon Okangbuan of the Action Alliance, and Chichi Ojei of the Allied People's Movement all submitted petitions to the Presidential Election Tribunal.

According to local media, the two leading opposition figures, Mr. Abubakar and Mr. Obi, requested that the tribunal rule that Mr. Tinubu "was not lawfully elected by majority of the lawful votes cast at the time of the election.

In 11 states, including Rivers, Lagos, Taraba, Benue, Adamawa, Imo, Bauchi, Borno, Kaduna, and Plateau, Mr. Obi claimed there had been cheating.

The Presidential Election Tribunal should revoke Mr. Tinubu's election victory document, according to Mr. Abubakar and Mr. Obi.
