Experts advise that having sexual relations while standing can result in a stroke.

Hussein Botchway, a physiotherapist at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital, has advised against taking certain positions during sexual intercourse, particularly standing.

According to him, such jobs might lead to health problems including hypertension and stroke.

"Sex is excellent," he admitted, but "we need to be conscious of the positioning."

He made the comments during a conversation with Joy FM's Super Morning Show co-hosts on Thursday, during which they discussed stroke and hypertension.

"The positions we take during sexual activity can contribute to hypertension and stroke." He emphasized that "standing is not advisable."

"If you stand during intercourse, the blood has to move against gravity, which has a rippling impact on the heart pressure," he stated.

Sex is thought to be helpful because it lowers blood pressure, boosts the immune system, improves heart health, and may reduce the risk of heart disease.

It also boosts self-esteem, reduces melancholy and anxiety, boosts libido, provides immediate or natural pain relief, and enhances sleep quality.

Despite these advantages, Dr. Yaw Osafo, CEO of Medicas Hospital and a guest on the show, could not agree more with Mr. Botchway.

"During orgasm, your blood pressure might rise by 20 points, so if your beginning point is not right," Dr. Osafo added. We've all heard stories about people collapsing in a room. We have no idea what happened in the room, but we can speculate.

"This is simply because orgasm can raise your blood pressure by up to 20 points, so make sure you're starting appropriately." So sex isn't completely risk-free. He advised, "You must do it under advisement."
