The Municipal Chief Executive for Wenchi Municipality, Hon. Alexander Obour Damoah has charged Ghanaians to rekindle their communal spirit and undertake regular clean-up exercises in their respective communities.

The Municipal Chief Executive for Wenchi Municipality, Honorable. Alexander Obour Damoah has charged Ghanaians to rekindle their communal spirit and undertake regular clean-up exercises in their respective communities.

Honorable Alexander Obour Damoah made the call when he led a general clean-up exercise to ensure that the environment was kept clean to promote good health.

The exercise was done in collaboration with the Zoomlion Ghana Limited, the Security Agencies, Council of Ummah, Local Council of Churches, as well as Keep fit Clubs within the Wenchi Municipality, Department, and Agencies of the Assembly.

Addressing the public after the exercise the MCE said keeping the environment clean promotes good health and attracts investors for socioeconomic development.

According to him, the exercise was not going to be a nine-day wonder but would be monthly basis.

"I have declared a monthly clean-up exercise and we are not going to stop here, it's my vision to green Wenchi Municipality too so in the raining season we will plant trees to accomplish that mission as well “, he emphasized 

The four hours exercise was carried out on the principal streets, lorry terminals, and other places of Wenchi township.

It was exciting to see both NPP and NDC members actively working together.

The exercise forms part of the MCE’s  2 - day fasting, prayers, and thanksgiving to seek God's guidance, protection, and strengthening the spiritual well-being of the people in the Wenchi Municipality.

Honorable Alexander Obour Damoah commended the public for coming out in their numbers for a successful exercise.

The exercise ended up with prayers, thanksgiving, and praises at Our Lady of Fatima Roman Catholic Church on Sunday.

Chairman of the Wenchi chapter of Local Council of Churches, Bishop J. K . Mensah seized the opportunity to call for unity and cooperation among traditional authorities, political party leaders to ensure peace and development in the area.

Bishop J. K. Mensah is hopeful with unity, the area would witness improved development for generations unborn.
