The Public Relations officer for the Sunyani Central Prison, DSP Johan Nartey has said the ex-convict Alexander Wiredu who was sentenced to forty-two months was suffering from a mental disorder as Medical records at the Sunyani Municipal Hospitals declares.
Mr Nartey was speaking in an interview with Soiree news on the expose made on Onua TV by an ex-convict, Alexander Wiredu who was accused of defrauding by false pretence. He told that he was showing signs of mental disdainers and undergoing treatment and the allegations he is levelling against the Facility is untrue though there have been incidences of unlawful activities but cannot be blamed on the authorities.
He added that the allegation of the Prison yard turning into a Market is something they are aware of and it is against their rules of engagement, but the means by which those things are smuggled in there is difficult to detect saying they don’t have scanners and gadgets to deal with those.

He also advised people who aid the inmates in the outside world to stop attempting to import drugs and other illegal materials into the prison yard to help them fight crime together by reporting perpetrators.
