Jamie Vardy finishes off a well-worked Leicester attack to break the deadlock

Jamie Vardy and James Maddison secured a 2-0 lead for Leicester City against Arsenal at the King Power Stadium on Saturday evening.

The win means the Foxes now occupy the second position in the Premier League trailing Liverpool by five points.

Although visiting forward Alexandre Lacazette curled a wonderful chance wide from six yards in the first half, Leicester dominated the match.

Lacazette’s early chance was a fantastic opportunity to take the lead in the 14-minute. The Frenchman and Ozil combined as Arsenal played through the Leicester press. Ozil then spread the play to Torreira, who in turn played the ball to Aubameyang. However, it does fell kindly for Lacazette, who curled the ball inches wide of the far post from about 10 yards out.

Arsenal gave the ball away and created a lot of problems for themselves. I’ve got a real problem with trying to play out from the back. They kept inviting pressure from a much stronger Leicester side.

Wilfred Ndidi hit the crossbar before Vardy swept home Youri Tielemans' pass on 68 minutes for his ninth goal in as many top-flight starts against the north Londoners.

Pereira played the ball into the feet of Barnes, who then flicked it into the path of Tielemans. The Belgian then found the perfect final pass to Vardy, who produced a clinical finish for what could be a crucial goal in the race for the top four.

In form Vardy then turned provider for Maddison to double the Foxes lead with a low finish from the edge of the penalty area.
