Everton’s manager, Marko Silva refused to comment on his future after his side’s 5-4 defeat to Liverpool on Wednesday night at Anfield.

Sadio Mane and Divock Origi inspired Liverpool as they maintained their eight-point lead at the top of the Premier League with a 5-2 Merseyside derby victory at home against Everton.

A defence-splitting pass by Sadio Mane allowed Origi to make it 1-0 on six minutes.

Xherdan Shaqiri then benefited from more classy Mane service on 17 minutes to make it two, before Michael Keane pulled a goal back for Everton four minutes later.

Origi latched on to a sublime long ball by Dejan Lovren before finishing calmly on 31 minutes.

And Mane made it 4-1 on 45 minutes, before Richarlison's strike rounded off an astonishing first half in stoppage time.

Liverpool stay top, now with 43 points, while Everton drop to 18th on 14 points.

Following the defeat, Silva refused to comment on what the future holds for him at Everton.

He said: "I am not the right person to talk about this situation, different person than myself.

"Every game I will play and it will come the same questions after the match. For sure they have to do things on the pitch but words here will change nothing."
