Asante Kotoko: Otumfuo appoints Prof. Lydia Nkansah to chair the three-member committee

Patron of Asante Kotoko Sporting Club, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has appointed the Dean of the faculty of Law of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Prof. Lydia Nkansah to lead a three-member committee to look into the affairs of the club.

The Porcupine family were called to calm down over alleged issues confronting the club which “can have the effect of undermining the unity and integrity of Asante Kotoko Sporting Club” and cause disrepute.”

The issues involved an amount of $180,000 debt owed by the Porcupine Warriors to Tunisian Club Esperance in 2016 regarding the transfer of Emmanuel Clottey, which was confirmed by the spokesperson of the club, Kennedy Boakye Ansah on Wednesday, April 29, 2020 to have been settled, involving add-ons of $45,000 representing an accrued interest and $15,000 for Kotoko’s failure to respect a FIFA decision.

The club’s failure to meet the regulatory requirements of the Premier League licensing system for the 2019/2020 season were also narrated as part of impending matters to be investigated.

In a released signed by the chief of staff, Kofi Badu, the committee has been given four weeks to submit their report before any further verdict.

Among Prof. Lydia Nkansah are the Registrar-Ashanti Regional House of Chiefs, MR. Kofi Owusu and Esq., a private legal practitioner, Lawrence Bruce Kyei.
