EC's Voters Registration Saga: Leaked Video Exposes NPP National Youth Organizer For Making Volatile Statement
National Youth Organizer of the New Patriotic Party, Salam Mustapha
THE YOUTH Wing of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has sighted a video and infographics purposefully released by the National Youth Organizer of the New Patriotic Party, Salam Mustapha to cause fear and panic towards the intended limited registration exercise to be undertaken by the Electoral  Commission.
In the said video and other materials, the National Youth Organizer of the NPP is seen inciting well-meaning Ghanaians against the National Democratic Congress with palpable and calculated lies aimed at throwing dust into the eyes of the citizenry and to instill fear in them in order for them not to participate in the limited registration exercise.
This is to subsequently disenfranchise them to minimize the impending massive defeat for the New Patriotic Party in the 2024 general Elections.
"We in the NDC unequivocally deny any plans and activities as stated by the ruling party’s National Youth Organizer and urge all Ghanaians and international allies to ignore such ridiculous and infantile display of leadership weakness by Salam Mustapha.
"We condemn such irresponsible and violent behavior by a leader who is supposed to promote peace and embrace tranquility in all his operations and utterances on National discourse," the group noted in press statement cooped to Soireenews.com.
The group in the statement mounted pressure on Salam Mustapha to withdraw  the lies and disturbing commentary and apologize or provide evidence if any to support his baseless allegations.
Failure to do so, the group stressed  that Salam Mustapha has to be invited by the police since his statement has the potential of causing fear and panic.
The Ghana police service ought to be guided by  Section 208 of the CRIMINAL AND OFFENCES ACT 1960, ACT 29: which states that “(1) A person who publishes or reproduces a statement, rumor or report which is likely to cause fear and alarm to the public or to disturb the public peace knowing or having reason to believe that the statement, rumour or report is false commits a misdemeanor”.
The group believes strongly that the government and ruling party have intentions of causing mayhem at the various registration centers with their notorious thugs as it has been the modus operandi of the incumbent to perpetrate violence during electoral processes and turn around to blame the NDC.
The National Democratic Congress urged all Ghanaians that we will continuously practice the tenets of a responsible opposition with recourse to the laws of the country, demonstrate empathy and commitment towards the needs and development of the citizenry and protect public interest.
The party reiterated the call by our Flag-bearer for the 2024 general elections His Excellency John Dramani Mahama for everyone who has attained the age of eighteen years without a voter Identity Card to register and have the power to vote for change.
They stressed the supporters and members of the NDC should be intimidated by Salam’s cowardice, go out and get registered.
