Nominated Achiase DCE shown Yellow Card by Assembly Members

The District Chief Executive nominee for Achiase, in the Eastern Region of Ghana, has been rejected by the Assembly members.

The nominee, Richmond Kofi Amponsah polled 13 out of 22 valid votes cast on Monday, September 27, 2021, during the polls conducted by the Electoral Commission.

The renomination of the DCE who is Dean of Municipal and District Chief Executives in the Eastern Region was greeted with stiff opposition within the party in the constituency.
 
A group calling itself CITEG Ghana petitioned the NPP party not to renominate the DCE stating that he is incompetent and divisive.

According to the group, the actions and inactions of the Achiase DCE caused the party so much and affected the NPP’s electoral fortunes in the 2020 General Elections.

Meanwhile, the DCE nominee for Birim South district and Okere District Asare Danso, and Kenneth Daniel Addo both secured 100 per cent votes respectively.

Confirmation of the 33 MDCEs nominees in the Eastern region commenced on Monday 27th, September 2021.
